Description: 

Present ESA R&T study aimed to achieve following objectives:

To anticipate security needs & requirements for future space missions (earth observation, communication, navigation, science & exploration, etc.) with respect to architectures considered for future missions.

To build an advanced security architecture portfolio embedding state-of-art security concepts, technics, technologies, components and solutions

To identify main priority activities (research, engineering, evaluation, validation, etc.to be run in order to complete and consolidate the preliminary portfolio and insure efficient applicability in support of future space missions security architectures definition.

The associated approach defined in AD01 to fulfil identified objectives was the following:

  • Preliminary definition of system level architectures for future target space missions via dedicated realistic scenario (mono or combined missions).

  • Identification of security issues / needs and, therefore, security objectives for such missions.

  • Review of state-of-art candidate security concepts & technics with selection & detailed analysis¬†of applicable security concepts & technics.

  • Selection of applicable security technics for future space missions.

  • Analysis of Security objectives fulfilment by selected security technics.

  • Elaboration of a detailed security architecture portfolio.

  • Identification of future activities required to complete / consolidate a preliminary security architecture portfolio.
