Landslides are a well-known but so far less-investigated hazard and risk in the Cordillera Blanca. In this pilot study, EO information in combination with in-situ measurements and modelling was applied for investigating and monitoring landslide processes in this mountain region.

Poor sleep on the ISS remains one of the major factors, which affect negatively the performance and psychological resilience of astronauts. The development of novel effective countermeasures for sleep loss, performance decrements and psychological deficits during space missions is needed.

The current study has evaluated the feasibility of a CubeSat anchoring device in the context of AIM mission. By enabling this capability on a Cubesat type nanosatellite, the overall AIM mission will be further augmented with in-situ scientific measurements such as close surface visual observations, on site plume ejecta monitoring, impact induced accelerations and seismic wave propagated through asteroid body, etc. Moreover, the anchoring device has a strong reuse potential in the context of SSA by the utilisation of Cubesats or small platforms for debris removal techniques.

DEDICAtE, aims to the development of a dual-channel depolarization lidar technique for the derivation of CALIPSO/ADM-Aeolus/EarthCARE-related conversion factors. CALIPSO is capable of retrieving linear particle depolarization ratio at 532 nm in a global scale, providing this well- calibrated product since 2006. Future ESA missions EarthCARE and ADM-Aeolus are based on the employment of the High Spectral Resolution polarization-sensitive lidar technique at 355 nm.

The project entitled "System analysis of deployable components for micro landers in low gravity environment" is conducted within the framework of the ESA contract no. 4000117150/16/NL/HK/hh. Its goal is to perform an analysis and trade-off between the various design options for antennas and solar array deployment mechanisms (including a comparison between the fixed and deployable configurations) of the MASCOT-2 lander in the micro-gravity environment of Didymoon.

This Pilot Study aimed at improving the information on the state of the Indonesian marine environment that is gained by combining satellite data, maps of particularly vulnerable coastal areas and model simulations.

The Asteroid Impact Mission (AIM) is part of the Asteroid Impact and Deflection Assessment (AIDA). The intention of AIDA is to send two spacecraft, AIM and Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) to the binary asteroid 65803 Didymos, to investigate the kinetic effects of crashing an impactor spacecraft into the smaller body of the binary asteroid, hereafter called Didymoon. The large body is called Didymain. Ultimately the mission hopes to test whether a spacecraft could successfully deflect an asteroid on collision course with Earth.

The PERSEO project (PErsonal Radiation Shielding for intErplaetary missiOns) aimed at
studying a wearable innovative radiation protection system to mitigate the effects of
Solar Particle Events (SPE) on astronauts. SPE can be considered as related mainly to
deterministic effects of the cosmic radiation, with hazards to man arising for physical
doses above 2 Gy, when symptoms of the hematopoietic syndrome appear.

The Crowd4Sat project explored a range of crowdsourcing methodologies and technologies, from opportunistic sourcing the ability to extract relevant data from unrelated activities to participatory sourcing, where citizens and authorities explicitly participate in the data collection. The crowdsourced data and information collected ranged from real time pollution data from cars (via the The Floow's technologies who have hundreds of thousands of users on four continents), to crowdsourced geotagged images from sites like Panoramio, Flicker and Twitter, to social media messages (e.g.

This summary presents the work by the University of Strathclyde, SCISYS and Roke Manor Research in response to the ESA SysNova Challenge AO7891; Remote sensing with cooperative nanosats, Challenge #3 – Weather. The objective of this work was to evaluate the performance and cost of multi-agent satellite networks capable of providing data in support of severe weather monitoring.
