OPS-SAT mission is a key element for operational validation in flight (or IOD/IOV) of the DeepCube service of Deep Learning at the edge that our company is preparing with the support of the GSTP programme (GSTP Make, ESA-CNES) and the R&D performed in the CORTEX project (Permanent Open Call EOEP-4, ESA/Phi-Lab, https://esacortexproject.agenium-space.com). The goal of the proposed experiment is to execute on-board the inference of the simplified models defined in those projects.

The use of optical (laser) feeder-links for next generation telecommunication satellites is receiving strong interest from commercial telecommunication providers because it will soon not be possible to support the projected growth in bandwidth using radio frequency bands (e.g. Ka-band). Moving to higher radio frequencies such as the Q/V or W-bands does not dramatically improve available bandwidth, while it increases atmospheric attenuation to a level comparable with the laser communication bands. The EasyMOD project takes place in the OSIP Model-Based System Engineering Campaign as an Early technology Development of ESA, as well as an IRT Saint Exupéry project funded by Airbus Defence and Space, Airbus Commercial Aircraft, HDGroup and the French Government. It aims at improving the human/machine interactions in the use of MBSE models, by providing friendlier visualisation and review capabilities, modelling assistants and new kind of HW and SW interfaces.

SAVOIR has produced a set of generic specification under the form of documents, based on some physical architecture of equipment that was state of the art at that time. The new functional model based approach is more based on functional chains and models. It is expected that modelling the SAVOIR avionics architecture and generic specification using the MBSE techniques, in particular Arcadia method and Capella tool, will allow to have an innovative standpoint on the SAVOIR standardisation.
Thales Alenia Space
The goal of the project was to develop a service as a product to simplify fitting DNN (Deep Learning Neural Networks) in on board HW to make better use of AI on space missions The role of the service is to support data processing engineers in reducing HW resources requirement of powerful DNN for image analysis to be executed onboard.
Agenium Space
The Doherty concept has proven to be a very effective technique for designing amplifiers, which maintain a high efficiency over a wide range of operating conditions. This technique is extensively used in terrestrial applications like base stations where power efficiency is getting more and more attention. Power efficiency is also of concern for space and the Doherty concept could certainly help in designing more efficient PAs. Ka-band is now being considered for mobile services that could offer very high capacity as compared to the existing ones at L-band.
