PHOTON-ENHANCED THERMIONIC EMISSION

Motivation:
To investigate the combination of thermal and photovoltaic effects towards an high efficient photo-to-energy conversion device.
Methodology:
We used numerical simulations based on FEM technique. In particular, we addressed the charge cloud issue in a fully 3D fashion to be able to design and simulate devices as close as possible to reality.

SAOCOM-CS bi-static modes for land applications

The project summarized here was conceived to support the definition of applications, products and user requirements, as well as the hardware design and ground processing design of a companion satellite mission which will carry aboard a "passive" radar working in tandem with the Argentinian L-band radar developed by CONAE and denoted as SAOCOM. The primary objective (i.e., science driver) of the SAOCOM companion satellite mission (SAOCOM-CS) is forest tomography, which will be carried out by exploiting small baselines between active and passive systems (order of km) changing with time.

Alcantara: Characterization of Equatorial Ionospheric Anomaly in African/Asian region

The ERICA team set up an ad-hoc measurement campaign (March-October 2015) carried on with contribution of local experts in Indonesia and Vietnam, who conducted the data collection with ground-based instruments deployed in the footprints of EIA and EIT. The set of instruments included scintillation and Total Electron Content (TEC) monitors, magnetometers, and ionosondes. Collected data comprehend raw and processed data from GNSS scintillation monitors and variation of the components of the geomagnetic field.
