We aim to develop a novel control theory methodology using input-output process models for error mitigation in signal processing data-paths that operate in radiation prone environments. In this approach, difference equations are used to characterize the process with perturbation corresponding to faulty digital circuits.

A new activity with GSTP Element 1 and Romania has developed a GNSS receiver based on COTS components that can achieve positioning accuracy to less than 10 cm without trading a loss in robustness.
Called OrbFIX, this GNSS receiver for space can produce high positioning precision in the vital low volume, mass and power consumption required for small satellites. At the same time, it is being produced for low cost, making it affordable despite its advanced technology.

Moving charges produce magnetic fields. Since thermal transients produce an electric current, thermal transients produce magnetic fields. It has been shown that the generation of these magnetic fields in the vicinity of sensitive instruments leads to a degradation of recorded data.
Getting closer to a theoretical solution and to an effective mitigation technique will help magnetic missions in ESA’s Science programme, Earth Observation programme and, in fact, all missions that employ magnetic-sensitive sensors.

The main scope of this activity was to foster the exchange of expertise between the European Lidar Network (EARLINET) and Latin America Lidar Network (LALINET), and demonstrate the capability of joint research, setting the groundwork for GALION (The Global Atmosphere Watch Aerosol Lidar Observation Network) and future calibration/validation of ESA’s atmospheric satellite missions such as Aeolus and EarthCARE.

The current study has evaluated the feasibility of a CubeSat anchoring device in the context of AIM mission. By enabling this capability on a Cubesat type nanosatellite, the overall AIM mission will be further augmented with in-situ scientific measurements such as close surface visual observations, on site plume ejecta monitoring, impact induced accelerations and seismic wave propagated through asteroid body, etc. Moreover, the anchoring device has a strong reuse potential in the context of SSA by the utilisation of Cubesats or small platforms for debris removal techniques.
