To improve the understnding, characterization, monitoring and forecasting of the ionospher in Equatorial Africa in order to benefit users from Global Navigation Satellite Services, Satellite Telecommunications, scientific research and other applications
ICTP
Investigating and finding innovative concepts and solutions to understand and mimic the grasping and pulling behaviour of tendril bearing climbing plants.

MImOSA gave the possibility to learn more about the actual capabilities of the South American countries to monitor and investigate the ionosphere, highlighting the dominant role of the largest countries, Brazil and Argentina, but also reporting an increasing interest in other countries such as Peru, Bolivia and Chile. MImOSA could result into a pilot project aiming to federate European and South American networks and individual instruments to monitor the southern and northern crests of the Equatorial Ionospheric Anomaly and the South Atlantic Magnetic Anomaly.
INGV
Having a clear picture of the status of ionosphere monitoring and related studies in the region, a research plan has been prepared.

The purpose of the “Atom Interferometry Test of the Weak Equivalence Principle in Space” study was to conceive and specify an instrument for an atom interferometry test of the Weak Equivalence Principle (Quantum WEP test, QWEP), focusing on the International Space Station (ISS) as space platform.

Low energy transfers have shown that it is possible to reduce the ∆v cost (and therefore the propellant mass) for a number of transfer types. This is possible by exploiting the natural n-body dynamics characterizing the spacecraft motion within the Solar System. In particular, the concept of ballistic capture makes it possible to reduce the hyperbolic excess velocity upon moon/plant arrival, and allows the spacecraft to perform few orbits at zero cost. Low energy transfers are designed by using impulsive maneuver, and therefore they inherently use chemical propulsion (Figure 1).
