Maturation of PCM-HSD Technology
A PCM provides a temporary cooling capability of electronics boxes when overheating/absence of effective cooling leads to over-temperature for any type of spacecraft or launcher. The proposed technology saves mass vs traditional heat sinks for applications where high power dissipation occur for a short period of time.
The activity shall focus on the following points: ?
- Radiation resistance of organic PCM?s: samples and whole PCM box, needing a large quantity of PCM to be irradiated under p and gamma

Effective use of Germanium
Germanium (Ge) has been identified as one of the major environmental hotspots of ESA’s space missions. As one of the critical raw materials the use of it (mainly driven by solar cells) is a major contributor to mineral resource depletion.
Today, Germanium is used as a growth template for certain solar cells. While the thickness of the Germanium on a solar cell level is extremely thin, around 140μm, actually only 10-20μm are actively being used. The rest is structural.

OMAR – On orbit manufactured spacecraft
The objective of this activity is to assess the system level and design impacts of optimising a satellite design for on-orbit manufacturing and assembly, as well as preparing it to be refurbished, reused or recycled on orbit afterwards, and to identify the technologies needed.
