Examples of digital twins in other comparable domains are for health monitoring of vehicles or gas turbines. The proposed activity aims to apply the ideas of digital twins, with a specific focus on spacecraft thermal control systems (TCS). A set of possible use cases is provided below with expected benefits: United Kingdom GSTP GT17-323MT AIRBUS DEFENCE AND SPACE LIMITED 2021 - 2023 Towards a thermal digital twin Development of a Flexible Thermal Protection System for Deployable Inflatable Heatshields and Hypersonic Decelerators Deployable and inflatable heatshield concepts have a very high potential to extend European capabilities for future Martian lander missions. Such concepts would allow to approach landing zones in the Martian highlands which cannot be reached with current state-of-the-art entry, descent and landing (EDL) technology, mainly due to the very low density of the Martian atmosphere. Alternatively, a deployable or inflatable heatshield concept could allow for an increased landed mass in the Martian lowlands. ; ; United Kingdom TDE T721-615MT VORTICITY LTD 2020 - 2023 Development of a Flexible Thermal Protection System for Deployable Inflatable Heatshields and Hypersonic Decelerators Filter by Programme GSTP (1) TDE (1) Filter by Start Year 2020 (1) 2021 (1) Filter by End Year 2023 (2) Filter by Keywords Filter by Contractor AIRBUS DEFENCE AND SPACE LIMITED (1) VORTICITY LTD (1) Filter by Country (-) United Kingdom (2) Filter by Application Domain Generic Technologies (2) Filter by Technology Domain 2 - Space System Software (1) 15 - Mechanisms (1) 18 - Fluid Dynamics (1) 20 - Structures (1) 24 - Materials and Manufacturing Processes (1) (-) 21 - Thermal (2) Filter by Competence Domain 2-Structures, Mechanisms, Materials, Thermal (2) Filter by Activity Status Closed (2)
