Autonomous TM/TC Module (ATTM) based on CANopen
Objectives

Main goals of this project are implementation of CANopen protocol compliant with ECSS-E-ST-50-15C (ECSS specific CANopen based on CiA-301) standard on ATTM device (on-board segment), its corresponding implementation in ground software skyEGSE-GUI (user application) and skyEGSE-comm (SDR server) and adaptation of test procedures which shall assure correct behaviour of newly developed functionality.

Description

Background and justification:

Because SkyLabs doesn't have complete avionics platform solution for the range of micro to small satellites (50-300 kg), interoperability with standardised protocol becomes a must, in order to enable satellite manufacturers to use equipment from different suppliers. SkyLabs identified increased number of commercial inquiries for the ATTM product, with the requirements of supporting a standardised, instead of proprietary, CAN protocol for TM/TC, in particular ECSS-E-ST-50-15C – CANbus extension protocol.

Achievements and status:

Successfully implemented CANopen protocol according to ECSS-E-ST-50-15C
Successfully validated implementation with automatic tests, developed during this activity

Benefits:

With switch from proprietary CAN-TS protocol to CANopen according to ECSS-E-ST-50-15C, ATTM can be used now much easier in satellites as it uses standardized protocol and it is thus interoperable with much wider range of existing avionics from various manufacturers.
