Objectives

The objectives of the activity are the readout electronics (ROE) design modification to add compact memory banks, optics design and accommodation study for 12U cubesat and the definition of mission operation and instrument performance optimization.

Description

In order to prepare the development of a 12U cubesat compatible hyperspectral instrument for use in an in orbit demonstration, it is proposed to address the system level aspects of the instrument design taking into account the platform interface, the characterization results of the detector and the camera operational modes defined to improve the overall image quality of the instrument. ? ? The proposed activity will cover ROE design improvement, completion of the preliminary opts-mechanical design and mission definition. In particular, the major tasks are the following: ? ? ROE redesign and manufacturing to add compact memory banks Preliminary opto-mechanical design and system level analysis of the instrument Accommodation study of the instrument on a 12U cubesat platform ? Definition of the concept of operation of the instrument ? Preliminary mission definition for the in orbit demonstration Add functionalities to the firmware allow flexibility for improving improve image quality of the end product, e.g. high dynamic range of the imaging and digital TDI. Evaluation of the HSI detector packaging process and characterization and assessment of its suitability for space application.
