Objectives

Toolchain to connect EDS and TASTE

Background and justification:

  • TASTE is ESA’s established Model Based Software/System Engineering (MBSE) toolchain targeting heterogenous system. When it deploys the logical model onto a physical architecture, it generates all the necessary glue and communication code.
  • Such an approach is convenient, but limits users’ options for mission specific tailoring.
  • TASTE supports import of CCSDS SOIS EDS (SEDS) models, a standard for specifying hardware data interfaces, via conversion, but not natively.

Description

Achievements and status:
• Introduced new type of TASTE project targeting communication device design
• The same MBSE principles and technologies can be applied for communication driver design
• SEDS can be used as Functions in TASTE Interface View logical model
•RS 485 communication driver example implemented for SAMV71Q21 using MBSE approach and SEDS backend

Demonstration project implemented and deployed on SAMV71Q21 platform using new TASTE features
