The use of analytics functions with EO and non-EO data will bring the following benefits:

• Capacity to characterize the vulnerability of assets/population using selected available models (TBD: GEM-like)
• Capacity to produce risk maps using multi hazard (floods and landslides), exposure and vulnerability information
• Capacity to generate loss mapping (e.g. estimation of monetary losses from potential affected building in an area) integrating selected available financial risk model

The definition of the On-board Software Reference Architecture (OSRA) has led to the definition of a main model (the architecture itself, defined in OSRA), supported by other models focusing on specific aspects such as real-time, transaction, bus exchange, etc. or making the link with system such as the Spacecraft Data Base. The space system primes and space software providers have been starting to use various modelling languages (UML or DSLs) and various tools to support their in-house tailored software engineering processes.

The study is supposed to provide a wide-spread analysis not only limited to POD concepts, but also investigating the impact of the SSV extension on operational concepts for space users, GNSS software design, and ground operations.

The space industry and space agencies have been aware for quite some time of the interest and added value of model-based system engineering (MBSE) in streamlining the design, development, deployment and verification of space systems. There have been many initiatives during the past decades aiming at defining models and tools able to support the various needs of the system engineering process. MBSE is increasingly being used in operational projects and the next step is to use MBSE extensively throughout the system life cycle, across disciplines and throughout the supply chain.

Developing a high-performance, but low cost satellite with very high resolution products would open the Earth Observation market to a new audience, creating a path for new applications and ultimately encouraging competitiveness.

These products are currently not often covered by the space industry and access is very limited. As such a new low cost satellite, with turnkey technology could open the market considerably. A new activity, with GSTP Element 2 and Spain, has developed a spacecraft to do just that. 

Currently, the Loop heat pipe evaporators are mainly cylindrical in order to cope with the internal working pressure. All electronic units have a flat thermal interface. This means that an LHP requires an thermal interface adaptor from a rectangular flat surface to a cylindrical shape (e.g. saddle). Therefore, these additional thermal interfaces and the small contact area decrease the overall performance of the Loop heat pipe.

The ISS Exploration Capabilities Study (IECS) is a joint study undertaken by ESA in cooperation with the 4 other ISS partners: NASA, JAXA, Rosscosmos, and CSA. In the IECS study, the human exploration programme for the period 2021-2030 is addressed. In this study it is proposed that in the first half of the 2020(s), a joint programme could start by building a Cis-Lunar Transport Habitat (CTH) vehicle. The CTH will be placed on a NRO orbit around the Moon. Safety of underlying trajectories is critical for rendezvous to human-tended infrastructure.
