The proposed project is a direct continuation of the ESA - GSP project ?3D printing of a lunar habitation?. A similar project called ?SinterHab - 3D printed moon concept? was presented by NASA and the international space university almost at the same time (http://www.a-etc.net/sinterhab/).

Within this study, it is proposed to perform a system study for a concept for manufacturing hardware where time is not the driving parameter and initial available resources are very limited. In the frame of exploration missions, complex trade-off will have to be made to find out the best balance between the ISRU (In Situ Resources Utilisation) and the resources brought from Earth. The first ones will have to be further processed to become useful while the cost of the later will be tremendous.

A unique capability is under deployment at Adamant Composite Ltd (GR). This company possesses the knowledge to confer a set of improved characteristics to CFRPs using Resin Transfer Moulding or hand lay-up methods. However, to demonstrate the added value brought by Adamant Composites a structural part shall be manufactured and tested. The results shall then be compared with the current state-of-the-art composite technology.

These tanks have been made of machined forged Ti-6Al4V titanium alloy. The tanks were normally TIG and EB welded and showed substantially lighter weight than if made of other materials and, furthermore, they show reliable performances.
