De-risk assessment: Development of large scale light-weighted HB-CESIC MIRROR - Supported
Objectives
  • Demonstrate that 1m mirror can be design acc. to space requirements with a mass of less than 15 Kg
  • Demonstrate that mirror surface could reach optical quality with roughness less than 1 nm RMS and high flatness
Description
  • Design of 1m mirrror with 14,2 Kg is achieved
  • Optical surface with sufficient quality is achieved on 130 mm sample level with representative light-weighting.

Benefits:

  • Extreme low mass mirrors compared to other SiC materials and especially in comparison with Zerodur or other glass mirrors.
  • Complex 3D shaped mirrors and structures out of the same material (a-thermal) to build space telescopes.
