Programme: GSTP Prime Contractor: ECM ENGINEERED CERAMIC MATERIALS GM

Subcontractors:
Technische Hochschule Deggendorf • Germany

Objectives

Demonstrate that 1m mirror can be design acc. to space requirements with a mass of less than 15 Kg Demonstrate that mirror surface could reach optical quality with roughness less than 1 nm RMS and high flatness

Description

Design of 1m mirrror with 14,2 Kg is achieved Optical surface with sufficient quality is achieved on 130 mm sample level with representative light-weighting.Benefits: Extreme low mass mirrors compared to other SiC materials and especially in comparison with Zerodur or other glass mirrors. Complex 3D shaped mirrors and structures out of the same material (a-thermal) to build space telescopes.
