Objectives
Objective(s):
•Identification of systems that use Satellite data and communication
•Identification of (soon to be) available security solutions than can be directly used/provided
•Identification of potential integration solutions and derived system upgrade requirements
Description
Background and justification:
•The scope of this activity is to better secure all the IT related systems that are now (or are foreseen to be) used in Romania to handle Satellite data and communications. There has been a recent increase in the focus given to cyber-security type threats that such systems can be exposed to – as it has become more and more obvious that satellite data can become essential in many circumstances and also that satellite communications play a very important role in a country’s emergency response and public safety.
Achievements and status:
•We have identified and engaged with the most relevant Romanian Space entities
•Together with them we have done: on-site workshops, vulnerability assessments, risk assessments
•We have identified the security solution that can be deployed and integrated with the Romanian entities
•The study has proposed a solution and has done the initial analysis in order to determine how the selected IT security solution can be deployed and integrated with the Romanian entities
Benefits:
•Clear understanding of current cybersecurity situation (risk and vulnerabilities) of Romanian Space entities
•Definition and proposal of mitigation solutions
