Objectives
To develop a highly integrated W-band circulator and isolator using the Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) technology

Description
SIW technology is a game changer technology for integrated communication and radar systems applications. It combines the advantages of planar technology, such as low fabrication costs, with the low loss inherent to the waveguide solution.

This technology has been applied successfully to the conception of planar compact components for the microwave and millimeter waves applications.

The activity focuses on two RF passive components: a circulator and an isolator that should be working at W-band and designed to be integrated on the same substrate with microstrip and other planar circuits .

The activity encompasses the following tasks::
- Development and optimisation of these RF passive components,
- Characterization and assessment of the new developments suitability for space applications.
This new technology will allow a greater integration of equipment with a lower fabrication cost for potentially all future telecom RF equipment.
