Programme: GSTP Prime Contractor: Airbus Defence and Space GmbH

Objectives

The objective of the activity is the development of a Universal Processing Module (UPM) as a core part of the future Radar Central Electronics (BackEnd). The main targeted markets and applications are in Radar Missions for space-borne Earth Observation.

Description

The Universal Processing Module (UPM) is a core element of future Radar Missions and as such a critical design driver of the Radar system design. The proposed development is strategic as it will allow to master the design of this critical part in order to maintain competitiveness in the field of space-borne Radar Systems. ;The development envisaged in this activity will address the following topics: ;? Establishment of UPM requirements baseline, Performance Engineering, Architecture definition; ;? Increase of UPM design maturity on key features (synchronization and calibration); ;? Development of key technologies and implementation in the UPM design (thermal filler and PCB technology); ;? Definition and development of a generic power conversion module; ;? Development of relevant test bed and test firmware as preparation for succeeding qualification campaign (qualification campaign outside of the scope of this activity).
