Model Library for Earth Observation (EO) End-to-End Simulators - EOLIB3
Objectives
The main objective of the proposed activity is to continue the development of a software unit for end-to-end performance simulators for Earth observation missions (i.e. BIBLOS software), aiming to reduce the cost and avoid re-engineering during future simulator design, implementation and testing.='times>
Description
End-to-end mission performance simulators for Earth Observation missions are one of the prominent tools for system design and scientific validation in early mission phases.

The main goal of the BIBLOS activity is to provide a library of software units that can be used to build an end-to-end simulator.

This activity will focus on adding new functionalities to currently supported instruments:
    • In Passive Optical Instruments, it will implement algorithms to support Imaging Spectrometers and Fourier Transform Imaging Spectrometers, change existing pointing calculations, include polarization effects to observable light and implement Performance Evaluation Module, Level 1 Processing Module as well as Level 2 Retrieval Module.
    • In Passive Microwave Instruments, it will improve Level 1 Processing Module, implement Level 2 Retrieval Module and Performance Evaluation Module. It will also include requests from first use cases in Passive Microwave Instruments i.e. image smearing due to instrument movement, temperature dependence of instrument during flight and fine-tune interfaces.
    • In Active Microwave Instruments, it will implement Instrument Module, Level 1 Processing Module and improve Performance Evaluation Module to include possibility of comparisons to expected or injected values.

This activity will also address:
    • Software units for active optical instruments
    • Software units for science end-to-end simulators
    • Integration of already existing modules/blocks into BIBLOS framework
    • Building the corresponding BIBLOS-based E2E simulator for a selected mission.
    • Improve the user friendliness of the tool (easily accessible, usable and understandable)
    • Enhance the validation of the software units
- Optimization of compilation time and processing time
Promote educational use of BIBLOS ='segoe>
