Objectives

The objective of the activity is to design, build and test a reflective grating with high efficiency working from UV to NIR spectrum. The aim is to enable the realization of new compact imaging spectrometers for post OLCI instruments.

Description

The concluded TRP Advanced large FOV UV/VIS/NIR/SWIR spectrometers has identified high efficiency reflective concave gratings working over a large band as a key technology to enable the manufacturing of instruments that encompass the performances of OLCI in terms of optical quality, spatial resolution and compactness. The current activity aims at the design, manufacturing and testing of a reflective grating for a compact imaging spectrometer with very large FOV and working from the UV to the NIR spectrum . The targeted performances of this grating are in line with the requirements identified for the baseline concept of the TRP study Advanced large FOV spectrometer. In particular the efficiency is higher than the figure currently obtained with classical holographic and ruled gratings. The performances of the grating shall be verified by analysis and testing at relevant space conditions.
