Hybrid Visible Image Sensor
CMOS image sensors offer new possibilities for imaging and spectral applications with fast, flexible readout. They are typically available in two formats - monolithic and hybrid. While monolithic is more common and easier to fabricate, the performance is to some extent dictated by the available manufacturing process. Hybrid image sensor technology, however, offers the ability to independently customise the performance of both the readout circuit (ROIC) and the detection layer from UV to NIR.

Power levels may increase with the enhancement of the payload and also the introduction or the increased use of electric propulsion. These trends are occurring in application segments such as navigation. In order to address these trends, power subsystem solutions may be adapted from satellite systems used for other orbits and other applications.

High voltage and high switching speed DC-DC converters based on Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology offer a revolutionary breakthrough for the next generation of power systems. Moving from Silicon (Si) to GaN, will mean power-conditioning subsystems with better efficiency and reduced mass/volume (50%). GaN transistors also offer the inherent ability to operate at higher voltages than Si and with improved radiation tolerance. All of these attributes are important for space application.

Heliospheric modelling techniques
The background solar wind and solar eruptions, such as coronal mass ejections (CMEs) and High-speed Solar wind Streams (HSSs), propagate into interplanetary space are drivers for space weather phenomena. Resulting impacts include geomagnetically induced currents (GICs), ionospheric disturbances interfering with GNSS systems, spacecraft charging, single event effects on spacecraft and launchers resulting from accelerated Solar Energetic Particles (SEPs) and aurora, especially at high latitudes.

However, these assets lack flexibility to customise the training process, and are limited in scalability to accommodate an increasing number of trainees.

Future human space exploration, including missions to the Moon and beyond, will require a paradigm shift in the current approach to in-flight exercise countermeasures, particularly when it comes to exercise devices (e.g. CEVIS, T2, ARED to name a few). Exploration vehicles will be significantly smaller, requiring exercise hardware to be smaller, lighter and less complex than current devices, and ideally multi-functional, capable of stressing the musculoskeletal (MSK) system, the cardiovascular (CV) system and other associated system (e.g. neuro-vestibular - NV).
