Whether for collecting solar power, or reflecting radio signals or light, dimensions matter. In fact large structures are continuously increasing in size to bring increased economic and scientific benefits. However, to realise these benefits, robotic capability to assemble the structures in-orbit is needed, as future structures will be too large to launch into orbit as a single self-deploying piece. The activity encompasses the following tasks :: Spain TDE T713-601MM GMV AEROSPACE AND DEFENCE, SA 2019 - 2024 Multi-arm Installation Robot for Readying ORUS and Reflectors (MIRROR) Neural Network software/hardware auto-coding from standard ONNX definition Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are more and more being used to solve very different kind of problems on ground and are also suitable to solve Space problems, e.g. visual based tasks for rovers. Embedding a CNN into an operational on-board software (OBSW) or hardware is challenging as the CNNs are composed by hundreds of operations and they request an extensive amount of memory that need to be used efficiently. Spain Discovery 22-D-T-TEC-02-c GMV 2022 - 2024 Neural Network software/hardware auto-coding from standard ONNX definition Chemical Modeling of Reactions and Processes in Propellant Systems System modelling tools allow analysis of the propellant chemical and fluid dynamic behaviour through the complete propulsion system, from the tanks through the connecting pipes, valves, manifolds, combustion elements and nozzles. These tools support the design and verification of rocket propulsion systems and troubleshoot anomalies during the utilisation phase.The appearance of new propulsion concepts necessitates extensions of these numerical tools. Spain TDE T719-702MP EMPRESARIOS AGRUPADOS 2021 - 2024 Chemical Modeling of Reactions and Processes in Propellant Systems Reusing Automotive Certification and Qualification Standards The ASIL2ECSS ESA-funded activity aims to reduce the space qualification cost by reusing hardware and software developed for the automotive domain, which complies with the ISO 26262 functional safety standard. In order to do so, ASIL2ECSS created a mapping between the various ECSS standards and ISO 26262 and related automotive standards in a structured way. As autonomous software is finding its way into more and more missions, having a unified approach for the product assurance of this type of software that can be made applicable across projects is essential.Many of the software product assurance requirements currently in place for space missions could be impacted by autonomous software, from fundamental topics like criticality analysis, down to detailed software quality metrics. The investigations on how to exploit such technologies was started in the three-ways TRP activities (T701-504ED, T702-502SW, T705-504EC) under the umbrella of Compact Reconfigurable Avionics. In such systems, the Software running on multiple-cores can be tightly coupled to functions implemented in the reconfigurable FPGA. Material surface requires a proper control and monitoring of the microbial cleanliness level. Today, contact plates, swabs and wipes are used for surface sampling. Swabs and wipes samples include mandatory liquid transfer to further extract and detect microorganism. Today, automated miniaturized system, molecular-based, has been developed and offers the possibility to perform multiple laboratory functions on a complete integrated system (i.e. Spain TDE T722-501MM SENER AEROESPACIAL, S.A. 2019 - 2023 Technology to quantify and qualify microbial contamination on surfaces Artificial Intelligence techniques for GNC design, implementation and verification The performance of currently available Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) systems for space is limited by unmodelled effects or uncertain parameters (e.g. sensor/actuator performances and performance degradations). Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques based on machine learning could be integrated in GNC systems in order to enable on-line learning of the properties of dynamics, environment, sensors and actuators that limit the available performances.
