Greece Discovery 21-D-S-OPS-02-g OHB Hellas 2022 - 2023 ONBOARD MULTI-FRAME SUPER RESOLUTION IMAGE Technologies for the Management of LOng EO Data Time Series (LOOSE) The continuously increasing amount of long-term and of historic data in EO facilities in the form of online datasets and archives makes it necessary to address technologies for the long-term management of these data sets, including their consolidation, preservation, and continuation across multiple missions. The management of long EO data time series of continuing or historic missions, with more than 20 years of data available already today, requires technical solutions and technologies which differ considerably from the ones exploited by existing systems. Germany GSTP G611-024EO DLR - German Aerospace Center 2020 - 2022 Technologies for the Management of LOng EO Data Time Series (LOOSE) A low-frequency and wide-band reflector antenna feed for future earth observation radiometers Future low frequency radiometric earth observation (EO) missions, as an example the Earth Explorer 10 (EE10) candidate mission ?cryorad?, have the challenge of realising compact low-frequency and wideband reflector antenna feeds with a high RF performance (e.g. Sidelobes and feed aperture efficiency). The scientific potential for sea ice thickness, ice sheet and ice shelf temperature profiles investigations by low-frequency radiometers, was judged high by the ACEO in the case of cryorad. Spain TDE T106-605EF EOS Engineering 2020 - 2022 A low-frequency and wide-band reflector antenna feed for future earth observation radiometers Tri-band (S/X/K) feed system design for future EO missions The layout of the 14m X/K-Band antenna developed under a previous GSTP activity will be used as starting point to define the feed specifications. A trade-off among different feed configuration will be performed. After selection of the preferred solution the feed will be designed including diplexers/filters and tracking couplers. Mechanical drawings will be prepared and critical components will be manufactured and tested in order to de-risk the project. It combined the detection of floating water hyacinths using Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-1 with in-situ estimates of macroplastic densities carried by this invasive aquatic weed. Water hyacinths typically form large patches of several meters of width and length, and can thus be detected from space. Therefore, there is a need to reduce the size/mass of the K-Band transmitter while increasing the DC-to-RF efficiency in order to relax the constraints of the thermal management systems at platform level. United Kingdom TDE T106-504ET VIPER RF LIMITED 2020 - 2022 Compact K-band Up-converter / Solid-State Power Amplifier for LEO missions Dual-camera satellite with on-board AI-Based decision making capabilities The main objective of this study was to evaluate the merits of a dual-camera setup to acquire high-resolution images of identified events of iinterest, on board, through AI methods. A mission analysis of the approach for a single-satellite, dual camera setup as well as for a two-satellite (leading-trailing), single camera setup was performed. The dual-camera AI approach was demonstrated on commercially available high-performance embedded computers (Xilinx Kria SoM / Google Edge TPU SoM) through a state-of-the-art active fire detection use case.
