This research integrates a complete diving mask with a custom-made VR headset to replicate a space-like setting. Alongside designing and building a waterproof VR headset, a pivotal aspect involves implementing a tracking system to ascertain spatial positioning and orientation. Employing an external tracking system, comprising four cameras housed underwater and affixed to aluminum rails this is achieved using fiducial markers.

Laminar to turbulent boundary layer transition holds paramount importance in high-speed flow regime because of its impact on the aerodynamic performances and thermal management of the spacecraft. Despite decades of investigations, incomplete understanding of this phenomenon still contributes to hinder the design of advanced hypersonic vehicles justifying the need for additional investigations.

Lessons learnt on the use of grease lubricants for applications in space mechanisms confirm their high chemical stability on long-term storage (LTS), due to intrinsic inertness of their fluorocarbon-based components which could be affected only via catalytic effect of metal compounds. What is observed even in widely used space-qualified greases is physical delamination leading to separation of the base oil and the solid filler. This delamination affects the lubricant?s viscosity and dielectric properties.

Supersonic Retro Propulsion (SRP) is a technique to augment the deceleration capabilities of launchers boosters returning from space. SRP involves upstream-pointing thrusters that supplement (and, potentially, increase) the body?s aerodynamic drag to ensure a sufficient velocity reduction.

North-South station keeping, orbit raising, deep space missions and formation flying of two or more spacecrafts are domain of electric propulsion (EP). Development of neutralizing element - a necessary thruster system compaonent- with high life time, low power consumption and high reliability is the same challenge like the thruster development itself.Having a neutralizing element is mandatory. During ion thruster operation, poisitve ions are extracted from plasma on different principles dependant on the thruster type.

The project MESG: Moon Energy Storage and Generation, funded by ESA (Contract Nr. 4000119561/17/F/MOS), demonstrated the feasibility of using processed lunar regolith simulant to store heat and, while releasing it, to produce electricity. The possibility to use adequately processed (compacted and eventually doped) lunar regolith for this purpose is a key development on the path to make sustainable long-term lunar habitation a reality.
