Current launcher RCS thrusters operate with storable, hypergolic propellants. They do not need an ignition system, but these propellants have a negative environmental impact and, due to the high and therefore expensive effort for safe handling and fuelling of the tanks, alternatives have to be found to replace them. One alternative is the use of cryogenic propellants available in the launcher for the RCS thrusters, or storable green propellants for thrusters on long-duration missions, combined with a laser ignition system.

Control Moment Gyroscopes (CMGs) of compact size target the small satellite market, especially for agile attitude control of satellites with high-resolution optical instruments. With the ability to acquire high-resolution images, the swath width is typically limited by the narrow field of view of the instrument’s optics. In order to enlarge the field of view, an agile attitude control system is advantageous because the ground target area can be substantially expanded by pointing the entire satellite.

The documents describe the first work developed by Maana Electric in the frame of the ACME project. The aim of the activity is to develop a system to use thermite reaction produced from in-situ resources from lunar regolith and use the energy released by the metallothermic reaction as a Lunar Night Survival solution. These documents report the results of the first Proof-of-Concept car laboratories to validate that thermite in atmospheric condition can be generated from regolith and its beneficiated forms. From the outcomes of the PoC, a breadboard has been designed, integrated and tested.

AbC is a compact on-board algorithm, initially intended for CubeSats, to measure the absolute direction of a distant beacon with optimised accuracy. The AbC environment anticipates a ground pipeline that has been used with OPS-SAT images to diagnose the ADCS. It has been shown that a ground-truth assessment of the satellite's orientation can be made which, with sufficient data, could allow precise re-alignment of multiple sensors. The ESA contract funded the implementation of the on-board algorithm in C++ and its pipeline in Python.
