Marine litter is a global issue; rubbish can be found in all the seas from the equator to the poles, as well as in freshwater systems, such as rivers and lakes. Most marine litter is plastic and, as plastic production continues to increase, greater impacts are expected. Plastic marine litter dramatically affects marine ecosystems and has a huge economic impact.

Successfully mitigating the damage caused by marine litter requires large-scale, accurate mapping of oceanborne plastics across the globe. Quantifying where and how much plastic debris enters the marine environment in a global spatio-temporal sense is critical in formulating solutions to the plastic pollution problem. Satellite-based measurements can help to survey remote, isolated locations in which direct observations are sparse, costly, and difficult.

• Enforce the use of the physical engineering model that TAS-F already has by sub-system architects in order to have the model as a central source of truth
• Produce an interactive representation of the model allowing its consultation without having to install dedicated modelling tools
• Produce trend graphs on system budgets
• Produce document generation capability to export graphs and tables to the system and subsystem budget reports

The main objectives of the REACT project were to:

The objective of this study was to help define how to maintain and further develop European access to the surface of Mars, the major destination for European exploration, following the most recent approved and developed (or currently in development) missions (ExoMars 2016, ExoMars RSP).

The activity 'Small Satellite Missions to Mars (S2M2)' is an early-phase architecture study of a potential low-cost mission to Mars as further step in the Mars exploration roadmap developed by ESA.

A potential implementation from industry’s point of view was assessed, applying the strict design-to-cost philosophy by fostering strong reuse of an available OHB platform. Trade-offs were performed for assessing a low-cost mission profile targeting the programmatic constraints that were input to this study.
