Development of generic MLI flap for spacecraft interface ring - Phase I
This activity aims at developing a generic solution, adaptable to the various (but limited in number) types of interface rings, to insulate the exposed surface once the spacecraft has been separated from the launcher. It could consist in a series of MLI flaps with a passive mechanism keeping it away from the Launch vehicle Adapter in quot;open positionquot;. The flap is automatically deployed in quot;closed positionquot; to protect the interface ring from the external environment (cold Space, Sun flux, planet flux).

ROARS: Revealing Orbital and Atmospheric Responses to Solar Activity
The ROARS (Revealing Orbital and Atmospheric Responses to Solar activity) swarm will provide a disruptive step-change to knowledge of our upper atmosphere with direct impacts to fundamental science, space weather forecasting and satellite conjunctions warnings. This report describes a prephase A feasibility study into the mission concept. This study formulates the scientific requirements, investigates the payloads and outlines the developmental pathways to meet the requirements.

AltiCube+ - An Aggregated CubeSats Swarm for Long Fixed-baseline Radar Altimetry
This report summarises the feasibility study result of AltiCube+, a low-cost long fixed-baseline radar altimeter solution based on CubeSats on-orbit assembly. Various altimeter concepts based on the AltiCube+ solution, including off-nadir SARIn and a Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output, have been explored, aiming at sub-kilometre cross-track resolution for water level monitoring. Key technologies on deployable structures, autonomous assembly and highly capable platform have been assessed.

Evaluation of LFoundry mixed-signal 150nm CMOS process (LF15A) for Space Applications
Requirements for standard CMOS technologies when intended for space application are very close to that of terrestrial high reliability ground applications, characterised by signal-to-noise, voltage and frequency performance parameters, depending on the ground domain itself. However, for space application, long term reliability and radiation resistance are mandatory and are currently not proven for aerospace, automotive or industrial components.

Imaging at 1-10 microsecond resolution from a space platform
Conventional high-speed video cameras present major limitations for space applications, they are heavy, bulky and require a lot of resources to operate and to space qualify. The study proposes the use of the neuromorphic camera technology for high-speed imaging in space. Neuromorphic cameras, also called event-cameras, offer advantages such as small size, low power consumption, and high temporal resolution, making them suitable for detecting fast phenomena like lightning and space debris. The advantages also make them relatively easy to space-qualify.

Neural Network software/hardware auto-coding from standard ONNX definition
Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are more and more being used to solve very different kind of problems on ground and are also suitable to solve Space problems, e.g. visual based tasks for rovers. Embedding a CNN into an operational on-board software (OBSW) or hardware is challenging as the CNNs are composed by hundreds of operations and they request an extensive amount of memory that need to be used efficiently.

PULSARS swarm (Precision Ubiquitous Low-cost Synthetic Aperture Regional Satellites)
In this project, a feasibility study for the PULSARS geostationary CubeSat system has been carried out. This involves the definition of a public protection and disaster relief use case using the satellite C-band, evaluation of a 16U CubeSat platform, and investigation into the spacecraft and ground segment technology required for coherent beamforming using a swarm of 20 independent spacecrafts. PULSARS mission design and system architecture are proposed, as well as a programme of technology development, enabling the spacecraft to operate for a minimum of three years.

Large Language Model Agent to interact with Earth Observation
In this study we explore the potential of Large Language Models (LLMs) to interact with Earth Observation (EO) data with some promising first results. We source a first testing set for the BIG Bench framework. With 20+ subtasks, we aim for a large variety of questions which are currently beyond the capabilities of LLM and other models. Further, we implement a methodology to test proprietary state of the art models where token distribution may not be available.

FAST DESIGN ALGORITHMS FOR ANTENNA ARRAYS USING MACHINE LEARNING
The work carried out reports on a new machine learning-based software prototype for designing and optimising phased array antennas. The prototype can rapidly and accurately compute excitation coefficients for large-scale antenna arrays across diverse configurations and far-field requirements. The prototype relies on tailored neural networks integrating structural physics and domain knowledge using an encoder-decoder structure.
