The 3G30 solar cell represents the state of the art solar cell technology with the worldwide highest electrical performance (30% BoL Efficiency); the cell has been developped mainly in the frame of ESA TRP.
 
This solar cell is now baselined for all near future ESA missions and is being considered as baseline for most of the future commerical telecom missions.

Techniques to in-orbit manufacture very long booms (from 20m up to approximately 50m and more) have been addressed in the past by looking at in- orbit bonding of thin-walled composite booms. Composite technology also allows the direct manufacturing of a long, continuous, constant cross section beam by means of a pultrusion process, permitting the achievement of lengths, up to 200m, with potential superior accuracy/stability performances.

A unique capability is under deployment at Adamant Composite Ltd (GR). This company possesses the knowledge to confer a set of improved characteristics to CFRPs using Resin Transfer Moulding or hand lay-up methods. However, to demonstrate the added value brought by Adamant Composites a structural part shall be manufactured and tested. The results shall then be compared with the current state-of-the-art composite technology.

The SAVOIR/SAG identified the modular RTU as a high priority building block. This is one of the key avionics building blocks as the provided functionality is required by the majority of ESA missions.

An EQM has been developed and validated. FR in June/July 2017. EQM Test completed!. The EQM will be used as EM of the Proba3 IEU and it has been used to qualify the design of the IEU of Proba3. EQM campaign concluded and the unit is to be delivered to Proba3.

Activity with GSTP and RUAG, Austria, to develop a thermal insulation suitable for planetary landers and rover.

An extensive trade-off of on various materials was carried out and supported by full material characterisation tests. Two insulation concepts were selected: foam and a gas gap.

The technical solutions are light weight, flexible and can be applied directly on the external/internal walls, wrapped around electrical cables and to mechanisms
