Two parallel TRP activities have been completed in 2012 for the development of Ka band InP cryogenic amplifiers. The purpose of the proposed GSTP is the continuation of the TRP activity for the validation of the K/Ka band amplifier in operational environement and for the preparation of the product demonstration. MMIC technology is intrinsically wideband and the design will cover the frequency band of many applications from earth exploration, science and exploration mission and radioastronomy as well.

Under a previous ESA contracts a combined component technology demonstration and component radiation effects experiment in addition to a radiation environment instrument was designed, developed and manufactured. This equipment consists of a Component Technology Test Bed (CTTB) and the radiation monitoring instrument MFS. The first flight model, named Technology Demonstration Payload#8 (TDP#8), is currently flying on Alphasat since July 2013. The CTTB contains three radiation effects experiments.

Hyperspectral instruments based on Linear Variable Filters (LVF) have been subject of development of TRP activities such as the Compact Hyperspectral Breadboard activity (a.k.a. CHIB) and also the activity dealing with focal plane direct deposited detector filters with high peak transmittance and out of band rejection (a.k.a. Fidelheo). These instruments are also addressed in the on-going GSTP activity, Technologies and Key Components for Compact Hyperspectral Instruments, (a.k.a. CHIEM).

In the frame of the GSTP program, an activity called Advanced Data and Power Management System (ADPMS) was initiated in 2000. This activity had the objective to develop advanced combined power management and data handling in a single box targeting Proba like small platforms. The activity resulted in the complete design of the core of the Proba platform avionics and was produced in flight models for Proba-2 and Proba-V. Both satellites are now in orbit and are cumulating more than 5 years of operations.

CHEOPS mission was adopted by the SPC in February 2014 (ESA/SPC(2014)5) and is being implemented in partnership with Switzerland and several other Member States as defined in the CHEOPS Multi-Lateral Agreement (MLA, ESA/SPC(2014)4). The MLA includes in particular a Swiss contribution to the spacecraft system Assembly Integration and Testing (AIT), through activities to be provided by RUAG Schweiz AG (RSSZ) under the authority and responsibility of the CHEOPS spacecraft contractor.

After more than 15 years of development at international level lead by ESA, SpaceWire has become the workhorse for high data rate on-board communications, not only for ESA missions but for other space agencies (NASA, JAXA, ROSCOSMOS) and for the space industry. This technology has become a de facto standard for payload systems and is now being used for avionics. The capability provided by SpaceWire to develop data handling systems based on high-speed networks rather than low-speed buses allows much greater performance but implies mastering much more complex communication schemes.

Imaging at frequencies in the Terahertz (THz) region of the electromagnetic spectrum has progressed rapidly in the past few years and even commercial terrestrial systems have started to emerge. Lately there is significant interest in stand-off detection and imaging. The technology push is aimed at the development of multi-element multi-frequency THz cameras with high image and spectral resolution. These systems will find wide-spread use in both space and terrestrial applications.

The ESA TASTE project is used to create and modify (among other things) Message Sequence Diagrams. But the editor tool for this is not at the technological level where it is useful in production, and where suppliers are able to do training and support programs. This study created a new implementation using state of the art software development design to create the foundation of the new TASTE applications.
